Sync Bridge for Jira Cloud

Sync History

📘 What you will learn here

On this page you will learn how Jira administrators use the Sync history page to review every sync action across all sync rules, filter the list, see entry details, retry failed syncs and set how long history is kept.

To see the history of a single work item, use the Sync history tab on the work item instead.

To open it, go to the Sync Bridge admin page and select Sync history in the sidebar, or select View all history or View failures on the Dashboard.

The history list

Entries are listed newest first, 20 per page. Use Next and Previous to move between pages, and Refresh to load new entries.

Column

What it shows

Date

When the action ran.

Action

What was synced: Fields, Status, Comments or Attachments, with the direction (Push or Pull) and a short summary, for example "2 fields updated" or "1 added".

Work items

The work item on this Jira site and the linked work item on the other site. The arrow shows which way data moved. Not linked means no linked work item exists yet.

Sync rule

The rule that ran, linked to its settings. Shows Deleted sync rule if the rule no longer exists.

Triggered by

What started the sync, and the person when there was one.

Status

Synced, Failed or Skipped. Failed entries show the first error below the row.

Capture tip: Capture the filter bar and about 6–8 rows. Hide work item keys, rule names and user names that reveal a customer.

Statuses

Status

Meaning

Synced

The action completed.

Failed

The action didn't complete. The error says why.

Skipped

There was nothing to sync, for example no changes.

Triggered by

Value

Meaning

Automatic (event)

A change to a work item on this Jira site, such as an update or a new comment.

Schedule

A rule's pull schedule.

Manual

Someone started the sync from the Sync Bridge panel.

Retry

Someone retried a failed sync.

API

A call to the Sync Trigger API. The details show which API token was used.

System

Sync Bridge continued a scheduled pull on its own.

When an administrator unlinks a work item in the Sync Bridge panel, the unlink is recorded here too, with the work item, the rule and who did it. Unlink entries don't have an action type, so the Action filter doesn't find them.

Filter the list

Every filter applies as soon as you change it. The filters are saved in the page address, so you can bookmark or share a filtered view. Select Clear filters to remove them all.

Filter

Filter

What it does

Connector

Shows entries for rules that use the selected connectors, including This Jira site.

Action

Fields, Status, Comments or Attachments.

Direction

Push or Pull.

Triggered by

Any of the values in the Triggered by table above.

Error

Finds failed entries whose error contains this text (up to 200 characters).

On a busy site, Sync Bridge checks the most recent entries first. If a page has fewer matches than usual, a message says so. Select Next to search older entries, or add a time range to search faster.

See the details of an entry

Select Details on a row to open Sync details. It shows the status, the full error message for failed entries, both work items, the rule, what was synced (for example, which fields were written or how many comments were added) and what triggered the sync.

Retry a failed sync

  1. Find the failed entry. To see only failures, set Status to Failed.

  2. Select Retry on the row, or Retry sync in its details.

Sync Bridge runs the sync again in the same direction. The result appears as a new entry when it finishes. Retry isn't available if the rule was deleted or is turned off, or, for a pull, if pull or manual pull is turned off for the rule. Hover over the button to see why.

Set how long history is kept

  1. Select Settings.

  2. In Keep entries for, choose 30 days, 90 days, 180 days or 1 year. The default is 90 days.

  3. Select Save.

A daily cleanup removes entries older than this period. The setting applies to this page and to the Sync history tab on work items.

If you shorten the period, entries older than the new period are removed in the next daily cleanup. You can't get them back.
